A brief manifesto

I need a first post to get the ball rolling, so how better to start than with a brief (and probably foolish) declaration?

So here we have it -

Potential Gamer is about:

  • The massive untapped potential of gaming, in both artistic and commercial terms, and the industry’s frustrating reluctance to pursue it.
  • Gamers that are left out in the cold with nowhere to go.
  • All those people who would really love games, if only they were given a reason to do so. You may have heard them referred to rather disdainfully as ‘the mainstream’.
  • Games that try to do something different.

Potential Gamer is most definitely not about:

  • Tediously gratuitous T&A.
  • LOLz.
  • ‘Beating’ games in the shortest time possible.
  • Consoles vs consoles vs PCs vs anything.
  • Unwarranted hype.

I’m just getting started, so give me a little time. Thanks.

I love the way how you started this post with “I need a first post to get the ball rolling” and the first review is about a ball rolling :)

I look forward to reading more of these posts, Simon.

    Cheers,

Good to see you here Digerati! Hope you stick around. Tell all your friends, etc. ;)

You know, I’d love to say that the ‘ball rolling’ thing was a deliberate bit of inter-post referencing but, alas, it was just a coincidence. My blogging skills have yet to advance to a level whereby I can forward-plan to that level. :P

Well I’m certainly going to stick around and blab this to friends and such…who knows maybe this could be the start of a real life magazine and a real team of people all reviewing games :D

Good luck and bring on the Multiwinia review! :D

    Thanks Ben! :D

    And don’t forget, it’s a Multiwinia PREVIEW, not a review. :)
